PLDT – Smart, the leading integrated telecommunications company in the Philippines continues to support the Davao Underground Cabling Project. The project aims to remove overhead wires and cables from the streets of Davao City.
Davao Underground Cabling Phase 2
Phase 2 of the Davao City Underground Cabling Project was marked by a ceremony at Magsaysay Avenue.
Representatives of PLDT and Smart joined the ceremony. Also present were government officials, representatives of Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC), and other telcos. The project requires DLPC and all telcos to convert their overhead lines to an underground system. This second phase of the project will be implemented in Davao’s Chinatown.
“The underground cabling project is a clear testament of a public and private partnership thatis undertaken with the welfare of the citizens in mind. Once completed, the project can boost businesses in Chinatown and further drive our city towards progress and development. Let us all continue to work together on initiatives and efforts towards acleaner, safer and sustainable Davao City.”

PLDT – Smart’s Commitment
Leading telco PLDT continues to deploy its extensive fiber infrastructure all over the country. As of the end of June 2023, it was at more than 1.1 million kilometers. The PLDT – Smart Group is also pushing initiatives to improve customer experience.
They are working to protect its physical assets, as well. PLDT is working with other telcos to spearhead the National Telecommunications Security Council. This is an informal alliance for the mutual protection of telecommunications infrastructure nationwide.

These cable clean-up and asset protection initiatives reinforce PLDT-Smart’s commitment as one of the founding members of the Digital Infrastructure group. The group is Government-mandated Private Sector Advisory Council. Among its programs is GoDigital Pilipinas aimed at expanding access to digital technologies.
