Stellar: I Am Mindanao Fashion Design Competition
Today, the first ever Stellar Mindanao Fashion Design Competition will be staged at Abreeza Ayala Mall with the theme “I am Mindanao.” Stellar is the brainchild of the newly formed Davao Fashion and Design Council (DFDC), headed by its President Aztec Barba.

The competition focuses the spotlight on Mindanao’s Young Designers.
Stellar’s Young Fashion Designers
Joining this year’s competition are Aries Bienvenida, Lala Chua, Neil Jimlani, Wilson Limon, and Mandy Velasco of Davao City. Also competing from the Davao Region are designers Mark Joseph Sayad of the Island Garden City of Samal, Marlon Suan of Tagum City, and Chard Pulatche and Mimi Tandigan of Davao Oriental. Completing the list is Frankie Galagnara of Cagayan de Oro City.
These talented young designers will compete to be crowned as the first Stellar Mindanao Young Designer.
Stellar Mindanao Judges
Stellar Mindanao finalists were chosen by the members of the DFDC. And the final runway presentation will be judged by an esteemed panel of fashion experts.

The panel is composed of Style and Design Academy CEO Cathy Binag, MEGA Creative Director Suki Salvador, Couture Designer Cary Santiago, and Asia’s Most Influential Designer at the Mercedes Benz Stylo Asia Fashion Week Avel Bacudio.
Stellar Mindanao Prizes
These judges will be choosing the best designers who will take home an exciting array of prizes.
Stellar’s Grand Prize winner will be dubbed as Stellar Mindanao’s Young Fashion Designer of 2016 and will take home P50,000 in cash, Business Incubation and Mentorship by DFDC, and a handcrafted trophy by Annn Pamintuan. The First and Second Runners-Up will take home P30,000 and P20,000 in cash, respectively. Both runners up will also receive Business Incubation and Mentorship opportunities.
A special award will be given by event sponsor Samsung. The Samsung Designer of the Year will take home a brand new Galaxy Note 7.
The final runway presentation, final judging, and announcement of winners of Stellar Mindanao 2016 will take place today, August 26, 2016 at the Activity Center of Abreeza Ayala Mall at 6 pm.
