As part of the Davao Food Appreciation Tour, fourteen very lucky bloggers ate a five-course meal at the Polo Bistro Pool Lounge of the Marco Polo Hotel.

First off, we tried the very peppery (but not spicy) Pepper-Crusted Seared Tuna served with Cucumber and Kani Relish. It was very successful in making our tongues be prepared for more Continental Cuisine delights prepared by Sous Chef Alex Bomanlag.

After the appetizer, we were served the very rich, very flavorful, and very, very cheesy French Onion Soup with Parmesan, Mozarella, and Ementhal Cheeses. Being a cheese-lover, I was enamored with the French Onion Soup. The cheeses complemented the delicate soup very well. I do not eat onions but I savored every onion strip in that soup.

Then came the salad and main dish combo. The Fresh Greens and Fruits Salad with Cesar Dressing was served with the main dish in order to cleanse our palates for the delectable main dish we were going to eat. The serving of the main dish was preceded by a live cooking presentation of our food. (SEE VIDEO!)

The smell of the butter and the garlic was very, very tempting. Then, we were served Prawns Thermidore. How can anyone go wrong with garlic, butter, prawns, and a creamy sauce? Chef Alex certainly didn’t. The Thermidore kept the bloggers quiet and busy while enjoying the delicious dish. The prawns were served in a delicious puff pastry that made me happy while munching. The memory of it makes me hungry.

The meal ended with Marco Polo’s award-winning Coconut and Mango Creme Brulee that was delicate and not too sweet. I was already full by dessert time but I managed to finish it off. YUMMY! They also served samples of their Pomelo Creme Brulee which is a very refreshing creme brulee with a little hint of citrus.

I almost forgot to write about the refreshing fresh juices and shakes we had. I had a very cool Pomelo Shake. I think it’s the first time I tried a pomelo drink and I wasn’t disappointed. Kuya Andrew tried one of the healthy shakes. It was green and made of healthy stuff which I forget now. But he attests that it was delicious.

We were graciously hosted by Karyn Flores, the Public Relations Executive of Marco Polo and Art Boncato, Jr., the Director for Sales. It was definitely a meal to remember for everybody there.

The food picture above sounds enticing.. but why is it that chef makes or prepare those in a very small portion? Teasing your taste buds and making you hungry more than ever… Now you’re lucky you probably didn’t have to pay for it, but WTH? how about the paying patrons, will they’ll be contented with it? I mean in my case I prolly need about 10 plates of those :)) :)) hahahahaha….
