Doon Po Sa Amin Competition 2015

Showcase the beauty of Davao and all things amazing about our awesome city. Join the Doon Po Sa Amin Competition and be Davao’s Ambassador.

Doon Po Sa Amin (DPSA) is a video-making competition that enjoins Filipinos to share their hometown stories. It is organized and SMART Communications annually since 2008.

DPSA is a nationwide competition with two divisions:

  1. the Student Division for high school and college students, and
  2. Open Division for other Pinoys.

Student Division

A team joining the Student Division must be composed of 10 members. It must consist of 7 to 9 high school or college students and 1 to 3 teachers or coaches. Students may be from different levels, sections, or courses but all must be officially enrolled in the same school or university. All team members must be Philippine residents.

Open Division

A team joining the Open Division must be composed of 8 to 10 professional or non-professional filmmakers. The team must have a designated Official Representative. Characters in the video or production crew members can be counted as team members. All team members must be Philippine residents.

SM Lanang Premier will have a Grand Membership Day for Dog Lovers today, July 19, 2015. During the event, SM Lanang Premier will launch with their Official Dog Club at the SMLP Fountain Court. This is in partnership with the Office of the City Veterinarian and Pet Zoofari.

The SMLP Dog Club is called the Pets Social. It aims to foster a community of dog lovers and dog handlers. Members of the club and their dogs will enjoy special perks, treats, and events. This is a progression of SM Lanang Premier’s Pet Day Sundays which encourages pet owners to bring their pets to the SMLP Fountain Court every Sunday.

Pets Social Members will have exclusive access to trainings and seminars about their pets and pet ownership and monthly events, and card holder discounts from Pet Zoofari. During the Grand Membership Day, Pets Social Members will get raffle prizes and freebies during the Grand Membership Day. The first 100 registrants on July 19 will get free pet consultation and free anti-rabies vaccination by the Office of the City Veterinarian.

SM City Davao University Fair 2015

Undecided about college and your future career? Head over to the Annex Event Center of SM City Davao and immerse yourself in the academic and career options offered at the SM City Davao University Fair.

The University Fair opens today, July 9, 2015 and will run for three days until July 11. Academic and technical institutions from Davao and from around the country will showcase their academic programs.

Among the participating institutions are Ateneo de Zamboanga and Xavier University (Ateneo de Cagayan de Oro), International Academy for Film and Television (Bigfoot) from Cebu, Silliman University from Dumaguete, and academic institutions from Manila: National University, De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, Mapua College of Technology, University of Santo Tomas, and SoFA Design Institute. This will give attendees to expand their choices beyond what is already accessible to them in Davao.

The University Fair is also a good venue for students to know available academic choices from Davao institutions, without the hassle of visiting different campuses. Ateneo de Davao University, Davao Doctor’s College, University of Immaculate Conception, Fashion Institute of Design and Arts, Institute of International Culinary and Hospitality Entrepreneurship, Joji Ilagan Career Center Foundation, MOST Institute of Davao, Philippine Women’s College, University of Mindanao, and the University of the Philippines in Mindanao will also exhibit their academic programs.

In a special edition of the forum, Abreeza hosted an intimate round table discussion for members of the media and bloggers featuring Mango Man.

Social Media has significantly changed the way we communicate. Be it for personal or professional purposes, people rely on social media for effective communication. Social media platforms can be utilized to communicate in various ways.

In 2009, Mashable pioneered the celebration of Social Media Day to celebrate the social media revolution. Every year, on June 30, communities around the globe celebrate Social Media Day to recognize the invaluable ways that social media has contributed to the growth of individuals, communities, organizations, and even nations.

In Davao, Davao Bloggers Society (DBS) took the lead in the Social Media Day 2015 Davao Event held on June 28, 2015 at the Food Cove of NCCC Mall of Davao. Bloggers, social media enthusiasts, netizens converged to for the event.

Participants were invited to post on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter their answer to the question for the day: “What Social Media activities do you enjoy that make you live the #SMARTLife?” Check out the awesome answers of the event participants.

The social media knowledge of the participants were tested by two games that were played during the event.

The first game is the “Listicles” game that required the teams to list as many correct answers to the questions that refer to popular social media sites. Questions include naming the Top 10 Davao Restaurants according to TripAdvisor and listing as many blog URLS owned by registered members of Davao Bloggers Society. Teams must list down as many possible answers as they can in the time allotted for each question.
