Detailed Information

You must have seen them trending on social media, especially their Hotteok. But not sure if you should trust the hype? Chungs Kimchi is as good as they say.

They are on our list of October 2024 Favorites.

First, we love their banchan.

Chung's Kimchi Banchan

Banchan

Among our favorites are the Kimchi, the Cucumber Kimchi, and the bean sprouts. Individually, each one is good. And they all go well with their main dishes. They provide a good contrast and balance of flavors. Plus, they offer a good variety of banchan.

What to Order at Chungs Kimchi

First time to eat at a Korean restaurant? Here are what you should order.

Cheese Tteokbokki

Our top recommendation at Chung’s Kimchi is their Cheese Tteokbokki.

October Favorites

Cheese Tteokbokki by Chung’s Kimchi

Most of the Tteokbokki dishes we have tried in the past are one note, just spicy. The Cheese Tteokbokki by Chung’s Kimchi is savory and spicy, a bit sour and sweet. It is super cheesy. There is a good balance of flavors. It also has a generous amount of odeng (fish cakes) and of course, melted cheese.

This is the perfect starter for a meal at our favorite Korean restaurant. It will delight diners who already love Korean cuisine and those who have not tried Korean food yet.

Kimchi Bokkeum Bap

This might seem like a basic thing to order but you must try their Kimchi Fried Rice or Kimchi Bokkeum Bap. Meat loaf (Korean spam) is cooked in with kimchi and rice. A runny fried egg, seaweed, and sesame seeds are on top.  Order it to eat as a meal or share with your companions to eat with other dishes.

Mandu Guk

If you love Korean food or would like to try some but not too fond of spicy dishes, we recommend the Mandu Guk. It is a savory clear broth soup with mandu (Korean dumplings), beef, and vegetables.

Hotteok

Finally, yes. Do give their Hotteok a try. Some of us like the basic Honey Hotteok. Some like the Honey and Cheese Hotteok better. Whichever you prefer, make sure to get one fresh when they start selling it at 5 pm.

Their servings are generous. Even those that are served with rice. Note that you have to order one dish per diner.

If you have dined at Chung’s Kimchi, let us know your favorites there.
