Benjarong Thai Bar and Restaurant is a multi-awarded and globally-recognised establishment from Bangkok. And now they have arrived in our city. Benjarong Davao brings authentic and rich Thai flavors to please even the most discerning of palates here in Davao.
Benjarong literally means “five colors” that represent the five different tastes: sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami or savory. These tastes are revealed in simple yet complex flavors of the dishes and drinks in the bar and restaurant.
Benjarong Davao’s Flavors
Benjarong Davao has a unique menu that is unlike those at other Benjarong outlets. Their Davao Team developed a menu around the ingredients available within the region. The restaurant works with local farmers to grow herbs in the highlands of Davao. Yet, to remain close to the original Thai flavors, some ingredients are sourced directly from Thailand.
Their menu includes popular Thai dishes like Tom Yam Gung, Phad Thai, Satay, and Ghang Khieo Wan Gai (Green Chicken Curry). It also features less familiar and more intriguing dishes like the Lab Kai (Minced Chicken appetizer dish), Gang Phed Ped Yang (Red Duck Curry) and the Nuea Yang (Grilled Tenderloin).
Both our Editor Ria (KusinaMaria.com) and our Social Media Manager Jexx (fb.com/DavaoFoodLover) both loved and highly recommends the Yam Som O.
It is a pomelo salad made with garlic, chicken, and shrimps. All seasoned with a Thai chili paste called Nam Prik Pao.
Ria’s favorite, however, is the Lab Kai. Another favorite is the Nuea Yang.
It is grilled beef tenderloin with a tamarind glaze and black peppercorns. Make sure to squeeze a splash of the lime. And to dip it in the sauce.
Of course, there is also a short dessert menu which includes the very popular Khao Niew Ma Muang composed of fresh mangoes, sticky rice, and coconut ice cream.
