Good day, Davaoeño cafephiles! It’s International Coffee Day and we’re celebrating with some of Davao’s new coffee spots. Check out our favorite brews by new Davao coffeehouses. Plus, more of our favorite coffee blends from around Davao.
Our Favorite Davao Coffeehouses
This list is based on the opinion of our team members and some contributions by other Davao Bloggers. So this is definitely going to be biased. But we would very much like to know your opinion so do leave a comment down below if there are more coffeehouses we should give a try.
Stash Coffee Co
First on the list is Stash Coffee Co.
Stash just opened last 2019 and had a promising start as a sleek cafe and bar in one. Popular for its “Instagrammable” interiors, we love it for their no-nonsense coffee blends. It is currently our top Davao Coffeehouse for our hangouts and meetings.
Cafephiles will enjoy the Filter Hand Drip Coffee. Ria loves how the baristas take time to suggest the perfect beans for your hand drip coffee. Ria suggests the Iced Cafe Latte is a great iced coffee option.
Meanwhile, Pau of Us En Route loves the Iced Mocha Lava.
She shares “Its perfect medley of rich chocolate and strong espresso is a perfect way to indulge if you are looking for a coffee treat that will give you a caffeinated buzz that is immensely satisfying and delicious.” It is a coffee and a dessert in one.
Unsure of what to get? Chat with their baristas to know the perfect coffee drink for you.
Stash also serves up filling meals, sandwiches, and pasta that go well with their coffee blends. And we heard their cocktails are great for chill nights with friends. We look forward to going back to Stash soon.
Stash Coffee Co is located on the 2nd Floor of the TBT Building at the corner of Inigo Street and Porras Street in Obrero, Davao City. They are open daily for takeouts. Follow them on Instagram @stashcoffeeco. Send them a message to inquire or order.
Note: All photos were taken pre-Community Quarantine.
Espresso Lab
Second on our list is Espresso Lab.
Espresso Lab just opened a few weeks ago. And we give them props for opening a gorgeous spot right in the middle of a pandemic. They are slowly gaining popularity for their Instagrammable interiors.
Jeffrey Mondia shares that it is a good place for afternoon coffee. But there is more to Espresso Lab than just beautiful interiors. They serve good coffee. He especially loves their Cafe Latte: “It’s dark and creamy just how I like it.”
Miel of Caramielrush also loves their cheesecakes and has declared that Espresso Lab’s cheesecakes are the best she has tasted in Davao. And she recommends their Caramel Macchiato, as well. And if you want something different, Miel suggests trying Espresso Lab’s Cold Brew served with Lemon. Interesting.

Espresso Lab is certainly the top Davao Coffeehouse on our list of post-quarantine must-visit spots.
Espresso Lab is located at Lanang Suites Hotel. They are open daily, from 10 am to 10 pm for takeouts. Follow them on Instagram @espressolab.dvo. Send them a message to inquire or order.
Note: Please follow social distancing and healthy and safety protocols when visiting Espresso Lab and other Davao food establishments.
Bottled Brews by Davao Coffeehouses
If you want your coffee on the go, Davao also has some awesome brews in bottled by our favorite coffeehouses.
Purge Coffee Roaster
Next on the list is Purge Coffee Roaster. Purge, we believe, is the first Davao Coffeehouse that cater to the coffee nerds. They started the trend of small coffeehouses that blend and brew their own coffee drinks.
Purge’s most popular coffee blend is their White Peak Bottled Coffee. It is a combination of their best-seller Cold Brew and fresh milk from Bukidnon Milk Company. Local coffeeholics hoard bottles of these. Our correspondent Athina of The Angliontgtos loves the White Peak.
The great news is you need not visit Purge to get a bottle of White Peak. You can get White Peak at Stash and at other local stores.
We heard their Black River Cold Brew is also really good and a great choice for those who prefer cold brew coffee. And Miel also recommends the Flat White by Purge.
Purge is also Claudine’s favorite. And we are looking forward to having a taste of their White Peak and their other brews soon.
Purge Coffee Roaster is located along Tulip Drive right outside Fuente de Villa-Abrille Subdivision. They are open daily for takeouts. Follow them on Instagram @purgecoffeeroaster. Send them a message to inquire or order.
MATA
And if you are a big fan of cold brew black coffee, pay attention. There is a local cold brew subscription service called Mata. That is pronounced as matá, as in the Bisaya word for awake. Named as such because their coffee promises to wake you up and keep you awake. Everyday.
Roxanne Lacap of Sweetroxieee subscribes to Mata and recommends them. She loves how strong and bitter the Mata cold brew is.
Mata sources beans from local coffee farms at the highlands of Kulaman and Mt. Matutum. They make their own cold brew and package it in reusable bottles. The bottles are not just picture-perfect but also environment-friendly.
They offer two subscription packages: one bottle good for 1 to two weeks for PhP700 or 2 bottles good for about a month for PhP1,200. Each bottle has one liter of cold brew that you can use up to as much as 10 servings. They deliver cold brew coffee to you and pick up the empty bottles to reduce waste. Awesome.
Subscribe now and create your own Davao coffeehouse experience inside your own home.
MATA is open to deliver. Follow them on Instagram @mata.ph. Send them a message to inquire and order.
Affordable Coffee
Finally, we must share our favorite local spot for affordable coffee.
We love Rose Bakeshop for their superb Filipino breads that are nostalgic and affordable. But they really leveled up with their JP Laurel Store. And they serve good coffee.
Their coffee options are definitely not to be missed. Hot or cold, their coffee drinks offer great value for your money. So if you drop by Rose, make sure to grab a cup of coffee. Clea does. All the time. They are the perfect affordable caffeinated drinks to have while munching on bread and pastries.
Rose Bakeshop is located along JP Laurel Avenue, Bajada, Davao City.
Note: Please follow social distancing and healthy and safety protocols when visiting Rose Bakeshop and other Davao food establishments.
