TGIF Celebrates 2 Years in Davao City

TGIF

TGIF

TGI Fridays Davao has been serving great food and hosting great moments for 2 years. And they are celebrating in a big way.

The tradition began in Manhattan in 1965 when Alan Stillman opened T.G.I. Friday’s. It was a ploy “to meet Pan Am stewardesses.” We all know it’s just more than that.

TGIF has became a place for family and friends to gather to have good food, drink up some exciting cocktails, and exchange chit chat. At lunchtime and afternoons, families go to TGIF together to celebrate birthdays, graduations, and other milestones. When the sun goes down, bartenders mix up the best concoctions for couples out on a date or groups of friends out to have a good time.

They have numerous branches all over the world, with 14 branches in the Philippines. One branch is here in Davao City at Abreeza Ayala Mall.

The Vanishing Island

Vanishing Island at the Island Garden City of Samal

Vanishing Island at the Island Garden City of Samal

One luxury we have here in Davao is our proximity to the ocean and the beach. The Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) is around 10 minutes to 1 hour away depending on which part of the island you’re going to and from which wharf you’re coming from. One islet that belongs to IGACOS is the Vanishing Island.

Remember when former Binibining Pilipinas Universe Charlene Gonzales was asked how many island there are in the Philippine archipelago? And she answered with “Low tide or high tide?” I’m not too sure if she was talking about the IGACOS Vanishing Island but it is one of those islands that vanish during high tide. When we went there for the Davao Food Appreciation Tour, it was before lunch time and the tide was still low. Lookie…
