Southeast Asian flavors take centerstage at Cafe Marco from November 14 to December 14, 2011. Signature dishes from different countries in Southeast Asia will be served with the international buffet of Cafe Marco.
The Cafe Marco kitchen staff led by the talented Chef Ed Tuazon has prepared delectable soups and salads, rice dishes, noodles, hot dishes, and desserts from all around Southeast Asia. Take your palate through a delectable tour of Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnman, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
I started out my Southeast Asian tour with some salads. I took a sample of Krathong Thong, a Thai appetizer consisting of minced chicken served in top hats. I immediately followed it up with Gado Gado, a mix of veggies and eggs served with a rich peanut based sauce. Mmm… the two dishes made me excited for what was to come.
I returned to the buffet table with more appetizers and I thoroughly enjoyed the Vietnamese Chao Tom and the Filipino Chicharon Bulaklak, which everybody found to be quite tempting. While the Chicharon Bulaklak was quite yummy especially with the vinegar, the Vietnamese Chao Tom was the star of the lamp heater spread. I’d like to have some more of that.
I tried out some of the Singaporean Laksa Soup and it was delightfully citrusy and a bit spicy. It’s a heart-warming soup that wasn’t overwhelmingly hot and spicy as most Southeast Asian soups are.
I then moved on to the rice dishes. I was torn between trying the Chicken Beriani which my companions raved about and the Filipino Adobo Fried Rice which I absolutely had to try. I abandoned my diet and tried both. And I don’t regret it one bit. Both were delicious and memorable. Forget your low carb diet when you’re eating at this buffet.
I quickly followed up with some Sayur Mesak Lemak. It’s a Malaysian Vegetable Curry Dish which made me crave for more, more, moooore curry. The vegetables were crisp and the curry sauce was rich and tasty. For those who don’t want to binge and want to stay healthy while enjoying the buffet, this dish is certainly for them.
To complete the Cafe Marco buffet experience, Cafe Marco has prepared a buffet spread with sweets from all around Southeast Asia. I recommend the Cafe Marco signature Pomelo Creme Brulee and the Mango Sago Pudding.
All these Southeast Asian dishes are served with other Cafe Marco International buffet dishes. The Taste of Southeast Asia dishes are available from November 14, 2011 to December 14, 2011 only.
